In This year’s East African Trade and Industrialization Week Conference (EATIW) 2022 is set to be held at Julius Nyerere International Conference Centre (JNICC) from 29^th March – 1^st April 2022 under the theme ‘Promoting the East African Region as a preferred gateway for Trade, Investment & Industrialization’. The event which will be held in collaboration with the region’s Chambers of Commerce and business associations, will be a platform to integrate the EAC region and the Africa-wide development agenda, as championed by the African Union Commission (AUC) and to further accelerate and deepen market integration by ensuring that we realize the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) agenda.

The objectives of the EATIW 2022 are:

1. Mobilization of the Eastern Africa Regional Private Sector Organizations to support the newly launched “Africa Business Council” (AfBC) which covers the  12 countries that constitute Eastern Africa Region;
2. Advance further the benefits and opportunities of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) in the region post-COVID;
3. Sensitize both the regional governments and the private sector of the benefits of promoting the Third Industrial Development Decade for Africa (IDDA III) (2016-20250, as a means of promoting value addition and industrialization of the Continent in order to further promote intra-Africa trade through the new continental free trade arrangement (AfCFTA).
